Nedeljkovic Gets Easiest Shutout For Team USA

Alex Nedeljkovic, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ free-agent-to-be goaltender, earned one of the easiest shutouts of his pro career Thursday.

Perhaps the easiest of his life, for that matter.

Nedeljkovic faced just 10 shots during Team USA’s 5-0 victory over France at the world championships in Ostrava, Czechia.

Minnesota’s Matt Boldy led the U.S. offense with two goals, while Brock Nelson (New York Islanders), Johnny Gaudreau (Columbus), and Shane Pinto (Ottawa) each scored one.

The record for the fewest shots in a game was set by Denmark, with only four against Switzerland in 2021. The previous record low was seven, dubiously accomplished three times.

Team USA has won two of its first four games at the tournament while losing one in regulation and another in overtime.

It is scheduled to play Poland Friday in Ostrava.
