Adrian Newey ‘s exit from Red Bull shocked the entire F1 paddock. The aero genius spearheaded the Milton Keynes’ success in the sport since he joined the team in 2005. Hence, the 65-year-old’s exit might prove fatal to the team by the next regulation changes. However, Newey revealed a shocking fact about how the team treated him when the announcement came out.

Adrian Newey‘s exit from Red Bull was announced unexpectedly. Hence, the 65-year-old had to take quick action over the rumors as well. However, the Briton still had to be present with the team on the pit wall. Newey revealed that it was a very difficult day when the rumors flourished. Additionally, the technical wizard claimed that the Miami GP was strange because he was there for a ‘strategy function’.

It was a very difficult and unfortunate day for that press release to come out, The Miami Grand Prix itself was strange because I was there in a strategy function, hence being on the pitwall.

Adrian Newey said, as reported by autosport.com.

However, the 65-year-old wasn’t directly involved in any of the engineering decisions of the team. Hence, the entire Grand Prix weekend was frustrating for the aero-genius. Additionally, the technical wizard was not allowed to attend any engineering meetings. Hence, Newey highlighted that he was ‘wheeled around’ for press and PR by Red Bull.

I wasn’t involved in any of the engineering decisions, or in any of the engineering meetings, I was just being wheeled around for press, basically. Adrian Newey noted.

Adrian Newey revealed the leak was ‘almost a shock’ to him

The news of Adrian Newey’s departure also shocked him as well. The 65-year-old wasn’t expecting the news to be revealed in such a manner. The aero-genius was leaving the Red Bull crew after 19 years of service. Hence, the Englishman wished to have a much better send-off than this. However, as revealed from the events, Newey would exit the team on a bitter-sweet note.

Adrian Newey claimed that he never thought of him leaving Red Bull to be such big news. However, his remarkable work in the team meant that the intensity was big. The Englishman never expected the news to be on ‘flipping papers and telly’. As a result, the entire matter was a ‘shock’ for the aero-genius.

I never thought it would be big news, to be perfectly honest, I never really thought about it. For it to be in all the flipping papers and on the telly and stuff was almost a bit of a shock. Adrian Newey added.

Hence, Red Bull will see the effect of Newey’s absence by 2026 surely. The team has enjoyed a highly dominant campaign during the ground-effect era. However, if the 65-year-old decides to join another constructor, the effect could be huge. The Austrian constructor might receive some serious competition if the Englishman joins Ferrari or Mercedes in the coming season.
